"Look, just hex me and dump me on my ass. Then you're family will be happy and I won't mess up your life anymore."
He met Diana's gaze for the first time throughout the conversation.
"I don't want to mess up your life anymore. I'm bad news, I'm a complete waste of space."

Diana snapped. "That's it?"

"That's what?" Darien was confused.

"You're not even going to fight for me?" Diana said folding her arms. "You're just going to give up? Did it even occur to you that maybe, just maybe, whether or not my family is happy is irrelevant to my happiness?"

"I would, but I'd let your side down. And you shouldn't have to chose between me and your family. It's not fair, and I don't think I'm worth it."

"Jerk!" Diana said hitting him in the chest hard. "Maybe you should have thought of that before I fell in love with you!"

Darien pouted. "See, now I've gone and messed up your life even more!" He slapped a hand to his forehead and winced.
"Hm...I don't remember my hand being red before..." he muttered, feeling a drop of blood ooze down his nose.

Diana sighed.

"You're stupid," She whipped out her wand.

"You're useless," she healed him.

"And the biggest fool I know." She cupped his cheek.

"But I'm a bigger fool than you are." And with that she brought her lips down and kissed him.

"And you still like me?!" Darien was confused, but happy.
He kissed her back, his depression vanishing.

Diana hit him playfully on the head. "Weren't you listening? I love you!"

"I have a rock for a brain, it takes a lot to get through the stupidity."
Darien pouted, but soon grinned.
"And did I mention quite how much I love you and how really really really really really really sorry I am?"

"Yes... I love you too," Diana said kissing him. "But I still haven't fully forgiven you."

Darien pondered for a moment.
"Would it help if I bought you a drink?" He dug a hand into his pocket and withdrew a biscuit. He blinked down at it, surprised.
"Or a...biscuit??"

Diana laughed. "I don't think so... where did you get that biscuit?"

"I'm not actually sure." Darien tried to remember and rooted around in his pocket as he did so.
"The little-!" He jerked his hand out of his pocket and scowled. "Ana took my wallet!"
He pouted and scowled simultaneously, looking remarkably like a toddler discovering his parents had thrown away his lollypop.

Diana grinned. "Serves you right for stealing from me."

Darien's face paled.
"It's karma! Quick, everybody hide!"
He ducked behind the bar stool.

((lol, he thinks the muggle concept of karma is a huge monster that eats wizards...))

"What in the world are you doing?" Diana asked him amused.

"The karma is coming! Do you have a death wish?!"

"Darien," Diana said. "What in Merlin's Pants are you doing under the stool? And no I do not have a death wish..."

"It's karma!! Ana told me it was a muggle curse...a hideous being of liquid iron that devours wizards! I am hiding so that I survive!"
Darien's fear-filled eyes flicked from side to side as though he was watching the tennis at Wimbledon.

"What?" Diana broke into a grin. "Karma isn't a Muggle curse. It's just talking about fate really... and if you do something, it'll come back to you. You know, what comes around goes around."

"Yes and it's enforced by the liquid iron monster!"
Darien peered up at Diana.
"Hide!!"

Diana pulled on Darien. "No it isn't... Honestly Darien, you should know by now that sometimes your sister plays tricks on you."

"Okay, so I've only believed that for about six years..."
Darien stood up quickly and brushed down his robes.
"Do you think anyone saw that?"
