A Section of the Library...

A small section of the library. Like the other sections of the library, this section has books, lots of books. It also has a few desk, chairs and lamps. Also several large windows as it is by a wall.

Diana went to a section of the Library as she was looking for a book. "I don't think it's here."

Darien sat down on the edge of a table, glancing around in a moderately interested fashion.

"Which book is this again?"

Scanning the shelves, his eyes noticed a flicker of movement at the other end of the library. Putting it down to another student or random animal, he ignored it.

"An Anthology of Eighteenth Century Charms." Diana said patiently. "I know it was here. I saw it the last time. I think someone might have borrowed it." She said glancing at the other shelves.

Suddenly an owl flew threw the window and landed next to her delivering a message. "Oh what's this?" It didn't answer. Considering it was an owl, but instead it flew away again. But it was okay, her question wasn't really directed to anyone anyway.

Darien jumped as the owl appeared, and then a second time as claws dug into his shoulder.

"Bloody hell..." He glared at his eagle, and detached a note from his leg. Graham loitered, clinging on tighter as Darien leant back on the table to unravel the note.

"Snap..." He muttered, with a sense of foreboding.

"Snap?" Diana said amused, while opening her letter. "I'd never would have written you off as someone who'd say snap."

Then she started to read. "Snap..."

"What can I say? I thought it sounded a little...snappy."

The smile at the edges of his mouth faded as he began to read.

Diana read the letter a second time over.

Nick's mum was in the hospital too? Merlin... poor Nick...

((Sorry, my posts are going to be ludicrously slow atm-started revising late :S so got to get a lot done ))

Darien crumpled the letter in a vague attempt at folding and shoved it back into a pocket, alongside the previous one.

He just didn't know what to say.

And for some reason phrases kept echoing around his skull, taunting and trying to bully him.

Much to his indignation, some of the jibes hit home.

((No problem... lol I should be revising here too but... I'm not. XD))

"I take it," Diana said looking up from her own letter. "That the contents are similar?"

((lol))

Darien shrugged. "Quite probably."

A nagging feeling began at the back of his mind. Was his family really going to be responsible for...two deaths? And he was even more bemused by his inclination to believe the accident idea, if only to avoid guilt. As much as they annoyed him, he was still...affiliated with them.

Diana held a look of annoyance. "This is getting ridiculous."

"Well it's not really their fault she had a stroke."

Darien tried to keep his voice calm, but his mind was reeling with new-found pressure and annoyance.

"Fault? I didn't say it was anyone's fault." Diana said defensively.

Darien folded his arms and muttered under his breath. "You didn't need to say it..." Just quiet enough for Diana to ignore...

The victorious tone of the letters was ringing in his mind. Should he feel that way too? Was he just...odd?

Not for the first time in his life, Darien wondered whether he was the one who was in the wrong...

"What was that?" Diana turning a slightly annoyed look to Darien's direction. "I couldn't quite hear you."

Darien sighed in mild irritation. "Nothing. It was nothing."

Diana sighed. "Whatever."

"Look," She said preparing to leave. "I'm going to go check on Nick. I want to make sure he's alright. I'll see you later?" She looked back at him for an answer.

Darien nodded. "Sure." He paused, attempting a half-smile.

"See you later."
