Lasses Barracks Two (Two Occupants and an Extra Cot)

Though the same size of the Lads Barracks, only three beds line the walls of this room. While not quite as spacious and fancy as the dorms of Hogwarts, this room easily supports sleeping space enough for the girls/young women within, though for the sake of variety the extra cot is situated in bunk bed format. Each bed has either a nightstand or a detachable shelf that serves a purpose similar to a bedside table. The color and feel of bedding varies as much as the individuals inhabiting the room.

A sheet of parchment affixed to the door lists those staying within:

Lynn looked to the left and around cautiously and alert, tiptoeing into the Barracks. She sighed in relief as she noticed it was currently empty, withdrawing a small box she kept in her pocket.

"Engorgio."She whispered, enlarging the box. Slowly, she opened the box and gently picked up the box's occupant: a fluffy, grey, little chinchilla.

"Hey little guy..." she whispered to the creature with a smile, looking at it with wonder and affection. "How're you doing?" Gently, she stroked it's soft fur, giggling softly as the chinchilla sniffed at her finger.

"You're going to be my little secret." she said as she conjured a small home beside her bed for her new pet

Christine Rue entered the Barracks, she was finished with everything else she had to do and decided it would be a good resting time.

She entered the Lasses Barracks and noticed that no one was around at all. Smiling gently she sat down on her cot and got out a book called Adaline Falling Star, a book her mother had given her. It seemed peaceful without anyone around but quite lonely also.

Christine got to reading but wondered if anyone was going to come in anytime soon.

Lara sighed as she entered the Barracks only to find that like all the other rooms she had ventured to her sister Lynn was not there. However, her godsister Christine, or Rue, as Lara referred to her as was.

"Hey Rue." she nodded as she more or less dove on top of the bed next to Rue's. "What's up?"

Christine, or Rue to Lara, smiled up at Lara. Lara was just about the only person besides her father or someone making fun of her that called her Rue.

"Hey Lara! Not much, what about you?"

Chris said to her favorite god sister while putting the book down.

"I didn't have much else to do so I thought I would read for a bit... but talking to you is a lot better!"

Christine smiled.

Lara shrugged. "Not a whole lot. I've spent like an hour looking for Lynn but, well, you know how she is. The Hide-and-Seek Master!" she laughed.

"You have Sentinel Duty later on too?" Lara asked with a hopeful tone. She always had it the same time every night, considering her insomnia and was almost praying that it would be Rue with her today.

Christine laughed and nodded her head,

"Yes I know how she can hide... it’s amazing actually!"

Rue tilted her head a bit and then perked up,

"YES I DO! I remember, so it looks like I will be with you correct?"

Chris smiled, she was lucky to have an awesome god sister.

"Sweet!" Lara beamed. Rue was just about the only person she could talk to about anything and everything so she was glad she wouldn't be bored to death or end up making idle chatter during Sentinel Duty for today at least.

She pulled a pillow to rest her head on top of. "Will tried to kiss me in the Effigy Room..." Lara admitted in a quiet whisper.

While she generally preferred to keep her thoughts to herself, she need to open up to someone. After all, Rue knew how it was between Will and Lara so she would totally understand.

Christine beamed at Lara but then that smile turned into a confused look.

"Err... And what did you do?"

Rue looked at her, wanting to be sure that everything was alright. She loved Lara like a sister and hated to see her down or confused or hurting over something.

Lara sighed before admitting in a defeated tone. "I slapped him..."

Christine held back a laugh that had shortly turned into a snicker but was cut off. Then she went to trying to help Lara with this,

"Lara... I understand you I do... however; don't you think that if he likes you in that way you would be breaking his heart?"

Rue smiled kindly to her friend and sister, her beautiful blue eyes showed absolute understanding and kindness in them.

"It is true that you don’t want to lose his friendship... however... you don’t want him to feel completely hurt that he can ONLY be friends with you do you?"

Rue was trying to help Lara get all her facts straight and get over her problem with not trusting relationships.

“But it’s up to you… just you should sometimes listen to your feelings… maybe once in a while.”

Chris laughed at a sort of joke.

Lara nodded silently, seeing the sense and logic in Rue's advice. "I told him Someday... Now's just really not a good time, ya know?"

Christine smiled, hoping she helped.

"Well good, don’t worry... I'm sure that it will all work out."

Chris then changed the subject,

"I wonder how Lynn learnt to hide so well! I think she should give lessons and teach us to be ninja's"

Rue laughed at this.

Lara laughed in reply. "Lots of practice from our Uncle Steve. That and purely natural talent."

"Man I need to get some lessons!"

Chris smiled at her, she was happy when she got others to smile or laugh.

"So what else has been going on with you?"

Chris wanted to be kept up to date, and also it gave them a few things to talk about.

Lara shrugged. "Nothing else really worth mentioning. You?"

Rue shook her head sadly,

"No not much... I normally keep to myself all the while... I should probably start hanging out more with some people."

Rue put her hand beside her and accidentally pressed down on her book. She took her hand off of it and for a second she looked down at it but then she turned her gaze back to Lara.

Lara nodded in agreement. "You should! Come on over to the other Barracks and hang out with me , Rossalynn and Elizabeth."

Rue nodded and smiled,

"Yes, that would be fun... I'm just worried no one will like me…"

Rue smiled sheepishly, she had always been afraid that everyone might think her annoying or something similar and she never wanted to be a bother.

"Oh, come on Rue! Liz and Rossalyn will totally like you! You're awesome!" Lara replied. She never quite understood why Rue was always so afraid. Lara knew very well that not a whole lot of people liked her, but she could care less.

Rue smiled, her eyes dancing. She knew it was probably nonsense to be afraid of something like it however she just couldn’t fight off the uneasy feeling of not being liked.

"Aww, thanks Lara... but seriously, I am not awesome... but thank you, I will defiantly come and talk with you guys."

Rue was happy that Lara thought she wasn’t a bother to have around.
