Parent Trap Part 2

Adriana merely hugged her mother back and started blinking rapidly again.

Calista frowned slightly. "What's the matter? Are you that ashamed of being with seen your mother in public?"

"No!" Adriana said. That was the last thing on her mind. "It's just that... there's a bloody spec in my eye..." Adriana knew it was lame but she couldn't think of a better story.

Calista felt a flicker of suspicion but brushed it aside. She was not going to get suspicious of her own daughter.

"Do you want to go take it out in the bathroom? And Ana may have borrowed some of your books, apparently she needed them for another of her experiments." Calista rolled her eyes. "Dinner'll be ready in twenty minutes. It's your favourite!"

"It's alright!" Adriana chirped up. "I think it's gone now. I can help you with dinner." She didn't want to leave her mother's sight.

Calista smiled. "Alright....If you really want to help, could you nip down to the cellar and get me the 1923?" She took a key out of a drawer and handed it over. ((teehee blood from 1923))

"It's the one with the glass stopper, on the middle shelf, back wall. It should be quite clean, I only bought it yesterday, to put on the spaghetti."

"Alright!" Adriana said eagerly. Then she skipped down to the cellar.... that was rather creepy. But she found the bottle easily enough and resurfaced several minutes later.

"Here you go mum!" Adriana beamed.

"Thanks." Calista placed the bottle on the side and began to pour some spaghetti into a pan full of boiling water.

"Could you get out the bolognese, love? It's in the packet by the sink."

"Yep, no problem." Adriana practically skipped on the way there. Okay she had to calm herself down. She was getting too giddy.

Calista raised an eyebrow. "You seem very happy today...Has something happened?"

She stirred the pasta gently.

"Ermm... I suppose you could say... I met someone new." Adriana said fetching what her mother told her to.

Calista smiled. "A new friend? You could have them over here sometime if you want."

"I hope to..." Adriana grinned to herself. "But... later on, I think."

Calista nodded. "Alright. You let me know when."

She poured the water off the pasta, tipping it onto three plates.

"I sure would." Adriana agreed. "Mum... what's your favourite colour?"

Calista laughed, then paused. "You know, I'm not sure...It might be green...or red...I think probably green. Like the forest in summer."

She poured bolognese on the threee plates. "Why do you ask?"

"Nothing," Adriana said. "I was just wondering if it'd changed..." Another lame cover up! Honestly shouldn't she being the daughter know what her mother's favourite colour is?

Calista laughed. "You are being strange today."

She added some blood to each plate. "...I should take this up to Ana." She studied her daughter carefully. "Who exactly was this person you met today?"

"Ermmm... well me and her have a lot in common. Surprisingly so. It's like we're long lost sisters or something." Adriana said.

Calista laughed. "Good. I'm glad you're making some more nice friends."

She picked up two plates and some cutlery. "Love, could you tell Ana dinner's ready?"

"Sure thing Mum," She then went to where Ana's room was and knocked. "Ana? dinner's ready."

Calista placed the two plates down on the table, and returned to the kitchen to grab the final plate and remaining fork.

"One sec-Is that you Adelina? Could you give me a hand?"

She was hanging from the ceiling, feet on the door handle, one hand holding an upside down cup, the other trying frantically to grab her wand, lying on the floor about 60cm below.

Adriana forgot for a moment that she was Adelina and didn't respond initially. When remembered though, "Yeah it's me. Wow, what happened?"

"Could you pass me my wand?" Ana asked. "I'll tell you when I get down from here."

Adriana picked up the wand and gave it to Ana. She was looking at her with a mixture of curiosity and confusion. "What happened?"
