The Potions Professor Amaranth Viper

Professor Viper frowned at the sight inside the Potions Dungeons. Inside were students playing around, chattering and talking loudly, even going as far as throwing paper airplanes at each other.

She took a moment to breathe in deeply, calming herself, before venturing off into the unknown. She opened the door slowly, enabling herself to sneak in w/out attracting the students attention, pausing for a moment before slamming the door loudly, successfully captivating the students attention.

Viper smirked as the previous loudness ceased to exist and all the students turned to her. Seeing over half the students terrified, and a few close to tears, she concluded that this must be the group of first years (She hadn’t bothered to look over her schedule) She smiled to herself as she noticed a few students looking at her with admiration. “Slytherins!” she thought excitedly to herself, smiling inside.

The happiness quickly faded however when she noticed a few students beginning to goof off once more. Straightening her posture, she returned to her normal stern appearance and paced down the classroom.

“There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class.” She approached the front of the classroom to her desk, noting how all the students immediately obeyed.

At the corner of her eye she spotted a first year, clearly not a Slytherin with a few tears of terror trailing down his face. She rolled her eyes briefly at this pathetic display before turning her attention back to the class. “I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However, for those select few...” Viper allowed her gaze to linger at the Slytherin tables, a rare smile gracing her face. “Who possess, the predisposition... I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death.” During her speech she had conjured a few holographic images of her speech, providing a visual aid, heightening some student’s interest, a few even going so far as to lean forward in their chair.

"Now, before we begin, you all must understand something very important. Witches and wizards are nothing without logic. Some of the greatest sorcerors have fallen on account of not being able to use their brilliant heads correctly. As Potions Mistress I absolutely refuse to teach dunderheads. I don't care if you go running to the Headmistress, your parents, or even the Minister." she paused to make sure all the students were listening carefully. She smiled when she saw that they were all leaning forward in their chair, their eyes as large as saucers.

"Potion making is an art. A deadly art. One wrong slip of the wrist and all may perish." she conjured a white rose, crushing it into ashes at the end of her statement.

"The choice is yours, my dear students. You may, if you wish, drop this class now. It is possible to graduate without taking Potions, but, I wouldn't want to be the poor fool explaining to my boss that I can't even make a simple cough potion. Be warned, choose wisely, for this oportunity will not come again. You leave, then you never come back. You stay, well, then," she smiled to herself, laughing lightly in an eerieily evil way, "Then every class will be a fight for your life." She waved over at the board, revealing their assignment.

"For those daring students, the assignment is on the board. Solve it correctly and I shall teach you all I know. If not, well then," she laughed again, much more loudly than the last one. "It may very well be the last choice you make." she said gesturing at the alignment of viles at her desk.

A few students laughed, assuming she was kidding but once they caught sight of the look on her face, the realized she was dead serious.

Viper smiled at a few students (the Slytherins) as she made her way out of the classroom. "Class dismissed." she called over her shoulder.

Viper sighed. Gryffindors... "The italicized riddle, Ms.Delacour.. Which vial that helps move you on and the one that transports you back?"

How many viles do we have to choose from.

"Read the riddle, Ms.Delacour."

Casey studied the riddle and bit her lip she needed to take Potions class so she could brew her own Wolfspane Potions.

Taking out a piece of parchment she wrote down all the clues and through a process of elimination she eventually got an answer.

Hoping she got it right she handed her answer into Professor Viper.

Darien glanced around the deserted lab. Diana should be here soon...
What was taking her so long?
Was Ana's owl too thick to get to the Great Hall?
A thought struck him. Had Ana noticed the owl? If she had...Darien cursed and kicked at an empty cauldron, knocking it to the floor with a loud clang. He really had to think these plans through.

Diana walked into the classroom, empty but for Darien.

"I'm sorry I'm late... but I took a little detour to get a few people off my trail." Her face broke into a grin. "So, the Potions classroom huh?"

Darien checked the corridor for any sign of pursuit.
"You were followed? Di-did Ana see the owl?"

"Oh I didn't see her...." Diana blinked. "It was one of my fellow housemates. But I'm sure Ana wouldn't have noticed... the Slytherin Table's across the hall."

Diana pulled Darien out of the door. "So," she smiled. "Why did you want to meet me here?"

Darien wasn't convinced. Ana had an observant and quick eye. But there was time to worry about her later.
"Well, I promised I meant soon this time...And I keep my promises-Well no, I keep my promises to you...Not to most people."
He grinned evilly, looking more like a wolf than normal. His nose started to lengthen.
Rolling his eyes, he took a deep breath and his nose returned to it's normal size.
"Stupid natural Animagus, it's such a pain to control-" he muttered. "Anyway, I was thinking... Now I'm at Hogwarts too, that gives us more time to hang out."

"It's alright," Diana sighed internally as he didn't get the hint. It was alright, she could take matters into her own hands. "I love your animagus form." Diana pulled him to her.

"I love your human form as well." She said. "And that hogwart's uniform on you looks so good."

She pulled his Slytherin tie and kissed him.

((lol! Darien is pretty thick...like a plank of thick wood...or something.))

Darien was surprised, but pleasantly so. He allowed all his annoying sub-plots and worries to melt away as he lost himself in the kiss...

((And cue Professor Viper...Please?lol))

Diana wrapped her arms around his neck as she deepened the kiss.

"Diana?" Darien asked when he couldn't hold his breath any longer.

"Yes?" Diana whispered catching a breath.

Darien put his hands on her shoulders.
"Are these shoulder blades...or are they wings?"

((LOL - Told you it was awful...))

((That wasn't awful that was horrendous!))

"Oh Darien!" Diana said, "Your words of poetry melt my heart!"

He raised an eyebrow. "Are you being sarcastic?"

((It was...))

Diana smiled mischieviously. "Oh Darien, Darien, wherefore art thou Darien?"

"But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? Tis the east and Diana is the sun..." He laughed.
"And there's probably a similar chance of death for me if anyone finds me here."
His ears began to lengthen slightly. He tipped his head on one side and listened intently. "Lot of people one floor up and a bit to the west, a small arguement going on in the bathroom to the south and no sound whatsoever on this floor..."
His ear shrank back down to normal size.
"Does it creep you out when I do that? Cos if it does, I'll stop..."

Diana chuckled. "No, I kinda like it." She gentle touched his ear.

"How did you first transform?"

Darien's ear twitched in a very dog-like way.
"Well, it's a long story...and it's not very...normal. I didn't exactly...learn. That's why I sometimes lose control and just change, it's reliant on instinct."
